Essentials of Florida is a derivative of Essential Cosmetics of Florida. Essential Cosmetics of Florida was created in 1994 in Sarasota, Florida. Cynthia A. Griffin, a "Custom Blend Specialist," created cosmetics to fill the void that people of color experienced in not being able to find the perfect color. Although the cosmetic line was created exclusively for women of color, African-American funeral home firms began to purchase Essential Cosmetics for restorative measures.
ESSENTIALS OF FLORIDA:
In 1997, through the encouragement of the funeral director and funeral homeowner, the late Mr. Leroy Sims, of Palmetto, Florida, Cynthia eventually began to create sets exclusively for the African-American FUNERAL HOME INDUSTRY.
DEVELOPMENT
Likewise, restorative experts, such as the late Mr. Willie Adams, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia, and the late Mr. Larry Meriweather of Clarksville, Tennessee, have contributed greatly to the development and success of these cosmetic sets. Essentials of Florida has participated as a vendor for over 20 years during the NFDMA district, state, and national conventions. and Cynthia Griffin has also presented the class "Cosmetic Application & Technique" during NFDMA district, state, and national conventions, a hands-on class to bring awareness to the mortician about color-perfection, for all types of cases, and in all textures of mortuary cosmetics.
